Simply Vera

Happy Sunday friends!
I scored this dress at Kholes a few weeks back. I loved the draping in the front so much that I put aside the fact that the print didn't really speak to me. I love that it is a jersey kind of fabric which makes it super comfy. From day one I have been a fan of the Simply Vera line at Kholes! I love the fact that She did more than a limited capsule collection. Vera committed her brand to making an affordable line. That speaks volumes about her as a person.
It reminds me of what ticks me off about the blog world..
Some bloggers are so busy shoving name brands in our faces that the true art of style is lost. I sometimes question why I got into blogging. At times it feels very vain and self absorbed. Then someone who loves me, pulls me aside and reminds me; through thought provoking questions, why I started blogging.
The questions are:

  • What made you start?
  • Who do you blog for?
  • What is the purpose of your blog?

The answers are:

What made me start..
I started when in 2007 when a friend of mine from London told me all the cool kids there had a blog!
I let it die down for a few years and picked it up again in 2010. I started after being inspired by a co-worker that was an avid fashion blog follower. She loved my personal style and encouraged me to give it a shot. I was frequently called on to dress most of my family and friends for important events. So it was only natural to dub myself a "stylist".

Who do I blog for..
Women of all ages and income levels.
Women who are looking for a different twist on current trends.

What is the purpose of my blog..
The purpose is to help everyday women who come to a creative road block when getting dressed.
To show people how to wear one item multiple ways.

Matthew 6: 33
But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things will be added unto you.

  1. This post totally inspired me as I was feeling down about blogging as I felt like it was not going the way I wanted it too but I had to remember why I started it for myself and to inspire other women. Look forward to reading more. Loved the dress and kohls is my store :)

    1. I'm glad this post touched home for you love! We gotta keep at what we love. But most importantly we gotta do it out of love and not vanity.
      Much success to you!

  3. Gorgeous! I sometimes want to stop blogging for the reason you listed above....but then I too remember the reason why I started. I wanted an outlet for my fashion obsession initially, then it helped me learn to 'shop my closet' to help others create looks that won't put them further in the red. Lastly, I love the community of real, down to earth bloggers that I've gotten to know on a cyber level. You all are such cool peeps!

  4. You definitely inspire me my dear. I look forward to your blog post and even though you have allowed it to die down some, it's always a pleasant surprise when I click on your blog in my favorites and there's a new post. I hope you continue to blog and I hope you truly do enjoy doing it because it honestly feels like a gift you were given, that's bigger than you. I love those boots too btw :o)

  5. Love the boots and the scarf! I have a hard time fitting into things at kohls. I tried a few different lines but without much success. Vera does have a great collection too and I'm happy that it wasn't just a limited collection!
